Received a call…. “ do you take rescues? If you don’t take this mare I will put her down you have one week” We were there in hours and walked this beautiful 6 year old mare back to our barn !! More details to follow! See our Facebook page for live video feed of her move
2019- Goals for 2019- Really grow our lesson program according to our community need. kids like to be with other kids so we would like to have events connecting the kids! We also have a desire to create a therapy program! Many of the kids we have coming to ride do indeed have special needs already! Lets make it formal. New Year very exciting!
Welcome to Dancer now known as Izzy! She is a 25 year old Arab Saddlebred Mare. her previous owner has health issues forcing her to sell her ranch and re-home her horses. This was her last and her favorite! We welcome Izzy and cannot wait to see the smiles she brings to people of all ages faces!
We also welcome Liz as a new instructor! She will basically take over the lesson program!!! She comes to us with tons of experience both English and Western riding from Pony Club to Polo and everything in between! The Strong Family is excited to see the new energy she brings to the program, Liz will grow our lesson program and we can not wait to see her flourish in the New Year!! Very EXCITING!!! Call us for lessons!!!
Summer flew by! We have created a groove and welcome Liz as an instructor and announce the discontinuation of our sponsorship program. We have decided to focus on lessons and those that are in a lesson program may have the chance to have ‘practice” days as a sponsor.
Our Bingo at Lagunitas Brewery in July was amazing and we had a great community turn out! Comedian Deb Campo was hilarious as she called the numbers and everyone had a blast raising money for the horses. We shall do it again June 1, 2019.
We are buy planning our next fund raiser a Holiday Boutique!
During our Reiki at the Barn fund raiser we were contacted as there was a family in need. A husband, father of 3 and horse owner passed away suddenly and they needed help taking care of the horse. Palomo a sweet tall palomino gelding arrived one week after we received the call for help! He is settling in and has become fast friends with the herd. He is sweet and we are eager to get to know him. His family may visit any time!
Juan Murano was killed in a car accident on the way home from the barn and his last day with his beloved Palomo. His family wanted to make sure Juan was remembered for loving and taking such great care of this horse who he rescued. Juan did all the work. He took an abused skinny gelding and enabled him to thrive and learn to trust man. We will take over where Juan left off and continue his journey in a safe and nurturing environment. We begin June 24, 2018.
A heart breaking update. Palomo died of a broken heart despite many vet interventions we had to oput him down due to basically a colic. This was 2 weeks after he arrived and quite abrupt.
Meet MARLEY - Marley arrived in May 2018 16 hand grade blue roam we think quarter horse. The vet thinks his big bone may prove him to be a mustang. What we do k now is that he needed a new home and is a great horse for a beginner and the experienced rider. Available for lessons and sponsorship. He is as bombproof as you can get.
We welcome Uno February 27, 2018 he is a 16 Year old grey Dutch Warm Blood gelding- the sweetest guy here! His owner gave him a great life but she and he were both met with health problems. He has recovered but is out of shape. We are working on his conditioning and he is progressing every day. His prognosis was guarded but he is making great strides. He has even already given a lesson to a youngster. We are so proud of him and it is a pleasure to watch him grow. We sure hope he has a long stay in our program!
UPDATE- UNO IS A HIT WITH OUR ENGLISH RIDERS OF ALL AGES! HE HAS A FEW SPOTS OPEN DURING THE WEEK.
2018 Watson's Story
We welcome "Watson" to the program and have high hopes for his future. Watson came to use with a sweet, mellow disposition from a kindhearted woman who rescued him from a pasture but needed to find a place for him to get his second chance. We assured her we would do all we could, and he would either become a sponsor/lesson horse to benefit the program, or we would find him a loving forever home. Scroll down for a picture. Arrived the 15th of January and had his teeth and vet-check the 18th. We cannot wait to see this guy flourish. Almost 2 weeks later, this 28-year-old OTTB has energy and is already gaining weight. February 25th Watson went to his forever home in Napa!
More about Watson... When he arrived he had zero energy and was extremely underweight. Older horses do not do well in pasture for many reasons. He could not chew well enough to get the nutrition he needed from hay and grass alone. He needed his teeth done and to be put on a pelleted diet. They are such simple things, but since implementing them, he is responding remarkably fast. I cannot wait to go to bed at night so I can wake up and work with this guy! He is a delight. One can tell he had someone in his life that treated him well. I do not see any signs of abuse other than neglect or misunderstanding of the care of the older horse. Older horses need more care, not less. You cannot just "set them free." I believe this is a simple mistake people make. This horse gives me joy. As I bend down, he is lifting his foot to be picked. He is a true Gentleman. Nearly 2 weeks in on the proper diet and his energy level is increasing and he can trot and canter. He seems proud of himself and us of him!
what's up now?
Strong Stables proudly took in 5 displaced horses due the fire storm- It is great to report they are all back home safely! Glad to have met some new friends and help !

Arrival of Kelly a brood mare who needs her second chance as a companion horse. Kelly is still here until we are able to find her the perfect home. In the mean time she is a companion horse for Niko- they are in love. PROJECT UPDATE SEPT 2017 KELLY GETS HER HOME!!! SHE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!!
Another good deed.... June 11, 2017
We received a unique call from a women not really wishing to re-home her horse but seeking assistance so she may keep her long time buddy horse Max. Through a flexible board payment plan and the help and support of the program we hope to help her get him in shape and her back in the saddle. Max is a 20 year old Belgian Draft horse that has had training in dressage. He is a little rusty but once he is strong, we believe, he will need a sponsor.
*****An update on Max-he is already under saddle- once he is strong we shall find him someone to share in the cost of this wonderful beast.
St Patricks Day at the Barn was a major success! Raffle prizes from Lagunitas, Petaluma Food Market, Sonoma County Zip Line tours and Pier 39 were highlights along with live music from the Flying Salvia's , Kerri Baily and Mitchel Ambre on the Bag Pipes! God showed up with some raging hail- thank God that we had the party in Strong Stables covered arena!
reiki at the barn
SATURDAY JUNE 24, 2017 - A NIGHT OF REIKI WITH MARLA STEELE
WE ARE EXCITED AND PROUD TO HAVE A NIGHT OF HEALING IN THE NAME OF HELPING HORSES AND THE PEOPLE THAT LOVE THEM
RAFFLE REIKI AND WINE
The night was a huge success and will sure to be at the very least an annual event. People loved receiving their Reiki treatment while surrounded by horses and music. We owe many thanks to our very own "barn cat lady " Marla Steele! We raised enough money to help Olly see the vet and we now have a plan of care to keep him vital, functioning and comfortable.
